those who use the world as though they were not using it to the full. For the present shape of this world is passing away.

For sadness as intended by God produces a repentance that leads to salvation, leaving no regret, but worldly sadness brings about death.

So also we, when we were minors, ¹  were enslaved under the basic forces ²  of the world.

For ¹  he chose us in Christ ²  before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemished ³  in his sight ⁴  in love. ⁵ 

If you have died with Christ to the elemental spirits ¹  of the world, why do you submit to them as though you lived in the world?

and if he did not spare the ancient world, but did protect Noah, a herald of righteousness, along with seven others, ¹  when God ²  brought a flood on an ungodly world, ³ 

And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior ¹  of the world.

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their grandeur. ¹ 

For then there will be great suffering ¹  unlike anything that has happened ²  from the beginning of the world until now, or ever will happen.

On the next day John ¹  saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God ²  who takes away the sin of the world!

I will not speak with you much longer, ¹  for the ruler of this world is coming. ²  He has no power over me, ³ 

I am praying ¹  on behalf of them. I am not praying ²  on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those you have given me, because they belong to you. ³ 

For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, because they are understood through what has been made. So people ¹  are without excuse.

For the promise ¹  to Abraham or to his descendants that he would inherit the world was not fulfilled through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.

Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law? ¹  Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish?

God chose ¹  what is low and despised in the world, what is regarded as nothing, to set aside what is regarded as something,

Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things that are freely given to us by God.

For the wisdom of this age is foolishness with God. As it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness.” ¹ 

for then he would have had to suffer again and again since the foundation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the consummation of the ages to put away sin by his sacrifice.

and he himself is the atoning sacrifice ¹  for our sins, and not only for our sins but also for the whole world. ²
