He ¹  appointed twelve (whom he named apostles ² ), ³  so that they would be with him and he could send them to preach

Pilate asked them, “Why? What has he done wrong?” But they shouted more insistently, “Crucify him!”

“Blessed ¹  be the Lord God of Israel, because he has come to help ²  and has redeemed ³  his people.

Then ¹  the second one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has made five minas.’

Jesus did this as his second miraculous sign ¹  when he returned from Judea to Galilee.

(Now the day on which Jesus made the mud ¹  and caused him to see ²  was a Sabbath.) ³ 

But some of them went to the Pharisees ¹  and reported to them ²  what Jesus had done.

When ¹  he saw one of them being hurt unfairly, ²  Moses ³  came to his defense ⁴  and avenged the person who was mistreated by striking down the Egyptian.

God ¹  made the one who did not know sin ²  to be sin for us, so that in him ³  we would become the righteousness of God.

When Joseph awoke from sleep he did what the angel of the Lord ¹  told him. He took his wife,

He said, ‘An enemy has done this.’ So ¹  the slaves replied, ‘Do you want us to go and gather them?’

He answered, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator made them male and female, ¹ 

I tell you the truth, ¹  wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

He said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions were hungry –

So ¹  he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis ²  what Jesus had done for him, ³  and all were amazed.

But ¹  a suitable day ²  came, when Herod gave a banquet on his birthday for his court officials, military commanders, and leaders of Galilee.

I tell you the truth, ¹  wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

But when John rebuked Herod ¹  the tetrarch ²  because of Herodias, his brother’s wife, ³  and because of all the evil deeds ⁴  that he had done,

Then ¹  Levi gave a great banquet ²  in his house for Jesus, ³  and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others sitting ⁴  at the table with them.

Jesus ¹  answered them, ²  “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –
