Then the slave threw himself to the ground ¹  before him, saying, ²  ‘Be patient with me, and I will repay you everything.’

Then his fellow slave threw himself down and begged him, ¹  ‘Be patient with me, and I will repay you.’

They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks ¹  on them, and he sat on them.

His disciples answered him, “Where can someone get enough bread in this desolate place to satisfy these people?”

But I tell you that Elijah has certainly come, and they did to him whatever they wanted, just as it is written about him.”

So ¹  he told them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her.

Then ¹  they crucified ²  him and divided his clothes, throwing dice ³  for them, to decide what each would take.

And the child grew and became strong, ¹  filled with wisdom, ²  and the favor ³  of God ⁴  was upon him.

Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man ¹  does not live by bread alone.’” ² 

When ¹  the Lord saw her, he had compassion ²  for her and said to her, “Do not weep.” ³ 

Everyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, ¹  and the one on whom it falls will be crushed.” ² 

Some of them were wanting to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him. ¹ 

Then they picked up ¹  stones to throw at him, ²  but Jesus hid himself and went out from the temple area. ³ 

Then Jesus, because he knew everything that was going to happen to him, ¹  came and asked them, “Who are you looking for?” ² 

When they heard these things, they became furious ¹  and ground their teeth ²  at him.

But they covered their ears, ¹  shouting out with a loud voice, and rushed at him with one intent.

(For the Spirit ¹  had not yet come upon ²  any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) ³ 

He became hungry and wanted to eat, but while they were preparing the meal, a trance came over him. ¹ 

Then Peter started speaking: ¹  “I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism in dealing with people, ² 

And now I stand here on trial ¹  because of my hope in the promise made by God to our ancestors, ²
