Beware ¹  of people, because they will hand you over to councils ²  and flog ³  you in their synagogues. ⁴ 

“Brother ¹  will hand over brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise against ²  parents and have them put to death.

And in anger his lord turned him over to the prison guards to torture him ¹  until he repaid all he owed.

“For it is like a man going on a journey, who summoned his slaves ¹  and entrusted his property to them.

And while they were eating he said, “I tell you the truth, ¹  one of you will betray me.” ² 

saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood!” But they said, “What is that to us? You take care of it yourself!”

Then he released Barabbas for them. But after he had Jesus flogged, ¹  he handed him over ²  to be crucified. ³ 

And when the grain is ripe, he sends in the sickle ¹  because the harvest has come.” ² 

Thus you nullify ¹  the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like this.”

Then ¹  Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus into their hands. ² 

When they heard this, they were delighted ¹  and promised to give him money. ²  So ³  Judas ⁴  began looking for an opportunity to betray him.

You will be betrayed even by parents, ¹  brothers, relatives, ²  and friends, and they will have some of you put to death.

He went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers of the temple guard ¹  how he might ²  betray Jesus, ³  handing him over to them. ⁴ 

and how our chief priests and rulers handed him over ¹  to be condemned to death, and crucified ²  him.

(Now he said this about Judas son of Simon Iscariot, ¹  for Judas, ²  one of the twelve, was going to betray him.) ³ 

But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was going to betray him) ¹  said,

The evening meal ¹  was in progress, and the devil had already put into the heart ²  of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, that he should betray ³  Jesus. ⁴ 

(For Jesus ¹  knew the one who was going to betray him. For this reason he said, “Not every one of you is ²  clean.”) ³ 

They replied, ¹  “If this man ²  were not a criminal, ³  we would not have handed him over to you.” ⁴
