But the man who is firm in his commitment, and is under no necessity but has control over his will, and has decided in his own mind to keep his own virgin, does well.

However, God’s solid foundation remains standing, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” ¹  and “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord ²  must turn away from evil.”

Through Silvanus, ¹  whom I know to be a faithful brother, ²  I have written to you briefly, in order to encourage you and testify ³  that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it. ⁴ 

Then the devil took him to the holy city, ¹  had him stand ²  on the highest point ³  of the temple,

So if ¹  Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?

Jesus stopped, called them, and said, “What do you want me to do for you?”

And if Satan rises against himself and is divided, he is not able to stand and his end has come.

He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking him in his arms, he said to them,

Some people standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”

So ¹  he was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”

She ¹  came up behind Jesus ²  and touched the edge ³  of his cloak, ⁴  and at once the bleeding ⁵  stopped.

But when Jesus discerned their innermost thoughts, ¹  he took a child, had him stand by ²  his side,

So ¹  Jesus stopped and ordered the beggar ²  to be brought to him. When the man ³  came near, Jesus ⁴  asked him,

Then ¹  he said to them, “What are these matters ²  you are discussing so intently ³  as you walk along?” And they stood still, looking sad.

While they were saying these things, Jesus ¹  himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” ² 

The experts in the law ¹  and the Pharisees ²  brought a woman who had been caught committing adultery. They made her stand in front of them

But Mary stood outside the tomb weeping. As she wept, she bent down and looked into the tomb.

After ¹  making Peter and John ²  stand in their midst, they began to inquire, “By what power or by what name ³  did you do this?”

And because they saw the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing to say against this. ¹ 

“Go and stand in the temple courts ¹  and proclaim ²  to the people all the words of this life.”
