But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.

So ¹  they seized ²  them and put them in jail ³  until the next day (for it was already evening).

For the hidden power of lawlessness ¹  is already at work. However, the one who holds him back ²  will do so until he is taken out of the way,

They have strayed from the truth ¹  by saying that the resurrection has already occurred, and they are undermining some people’s faith.

Dear friends, this is already the second letter I have written ¹  you, in which ²  I am trying to stir up ³  your pure mind by way of reminder:

Even now the ax is laid at ¹  the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to desire her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Meanwhile the boat, already far from land, ¹  was taking a beating from the waves because the wind was against it.

“Learn ¹  this parable from the fig tree: Whenever its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near.

Then ¹  Jesus ²  entered Jerusalem and went to the temple. And after looking around at everything, he went out to Bethany with the twelve since it was already late.

Even now the ax is laid at the root of the trees, ¹  and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be ²  cut down and thrown into the fire.”

At ¹  the time for the banquet ²  he sent his slave ³  to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, because everything is now ready.’

but they urged him, ¹  “Stay with us, because it is getting toward evening and the day is almost done.” So ²  he went in to stay with them.

When Jesus saw him lying there and when he realized ¹  that the man ²  had been disabled a long time already, he said to him, “Do you want to become well?”

got into a boat, and started to cross the lake ¹  to Capernaum. ²  (It had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.) ³ 

He answered, ¹  “I told you already and you didn’t listen. ²  Why do you want to hear it ³  again? You people ⁴  don’t want to become his disciples too, do you?”

Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” ¹  Martha, the sister of the deceased, ²  replied, “Lord, by this time the body will have a bad smell, ³  because he has been buried ⁴  four days.” ⁵ 

When it was already very early morning, Jesus stood on the beach, but the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.

and I always ask ¹  in my prayers, if perhaps now at last I may succeed in visiting you according to the will of God. ² 

Without being weak in faith, he considered ¹  his own body as dead ²  (because he was about one hundred years old) and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.
