Yet he brought out his people like sheep; he led them through the wilderness like a flock.

Pay careful attention to ¹  the condition of your flocks, ²  give careful attention ³  to your herds,

Listen to the cries of anguish of the leaders. Listen to the wails of the shepherds of the flocks. They are wailing because the Lord is about to destroy their lands. ¹ 

I know that after I am gone ¹  fierce wolves ²  will come in among you, not sparing the flock.

Now Moses ¹  was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert ²  and came to the mountain of God, to Horeb. ³ 

He had ¹  so many sheep ²  and cattle ³  and such a great household of servants that the Philistines became jealous ⁴  of him.

Also, take your flocks and your herds, just as you have requested, and leave. But bless me also.” ¹ 

They went to the entrance of Gedor, to the east of the valley, looking for pasture for their sheep.

(They gave their word ¹  to send away their wives; their guilt offering was a ram from the flock for their guilt.)

Yet he protected ¹  the needy from oppression, and cared for his families like a flock of sheep.

I will save my sheep; they will no longer be prey. I will judge between one sheep and another.

Then the Lord took me from tending ¹  flocks and gave me this commission, ²  ‘Go! Prophesy to my people Israel!’

Now ¹  there were shepherds ²  nearby ³  living out in the field, keeping guard ⁴  over their flock at night.

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is well pleased ¹  to give you the kingdom.

He saw ¹  in the field a well with ²  three flocks of sheep lying beside it, because the flocks were watered from that well. Now ³  a large stone covered the mouth of the well.

If he said, ¹  ‘The speckled animals ²  will be your wage,’ then the entire flock gave birth to speckled offspring. But if he said, ‘The streaked animals will be your wage,’ then the entire flock gave birth to streaked offspring.

You must set apart ¹  for the Lord your God every firstborn male born to your herds and flocks. You must not work the firstborn of your bulls or shear the firstborn of your flocks.

In this way Jacob ¹  became extremely prosperous. He owned ²  large flocks, male and female servants, camels, and donkeys.

They took their flocks, herds, and donkeys, as well as everything in the city and in the surrounding fields. ¹ 

Our children, our wives, our flocks, and all our livestock will be there in the cities of Gilead,
