All Israel from Dan to Beer Sheba realized that Samuel was confirmed as a prophet of the Lord.

Isaiah replied, ¹  “This is your sign from the Lord confirming that the Lord will do what he has said:

You must remember the Lord your God, for he is the one who gives ability to get wealth; if you do this he will confirm his covenant that he made by oath to your ancestors, ¹  even as he has to this day.

who fulfills the oracles of his prophetic servants ¹  and brings to pass the announcements ²  of his messengers, who says about Jerusalem, ³  ‘She will be inhabited,’ and about the towns of Judah, ‘They will be rebuilt, her ruins I will raise up,’

For ¹  it is right for me to think this about all of you, because I have you in my heart, ²  since both in my imprisonment ³  and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel all of you became partners in God’s grace ⁴  together with me.

And since ¹  this was not done without a sworn affirmation – for the others have become priests without a sworn affirmation,

And the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us, for after saying, ¹ 

Pul ¹  king of Assyria invaded the land, and Menahem paid ²  him ³  a thousand talents ⁴  of silver to gain his support ⁵  and to solidify his control of the kingdom. ⁶ 

Now, O Lord God of Israel, may the promise you made to your servant David be realized. ¹ 

They see delusion and their omens are a lie. ¹  They say, “the Lord declares,” though the Lord has not sent them; ²  yet they expect their word to be confirmed. ³ 

But if he does not listen, take one or two others with you, so that at the testimony of two or three witnesses every matter may be established. ¹ 

In the same way ¹  God wanted to demonstrate more clearly to the heirs of the promise that his purpose was unchangeable, ²  and so he intervened with an oath,

Then I will confirm my covenant ¹  between me and you, and I will give you a multitude of descendants.” ² 

I will put him in permanent charge of my house and my kingdom; his dynasty will be permanent.”’” ¹ 

Therefore we are sending ¹  Judas and Silas ²  who will tell you these things themselves in person. ³ 

Do not accept an accusation against an elder unless it can be confirmed by two or three witnesses. ¹ 

Today he will affirm that you are his people and that he is your God, ¹  just as he promised you and as he swore by oath to your ancestors ²  Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

I will turn to you, make you fruitful, multiply you, and maintain ¹  my covenant with you.

‘Cursed is the one who refuses to keep the words of this law.’ Then all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

David realized that the Lord had established him as king over Israel and that he had elevated ¹  his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.
