Will it make numerous supplications to you, ¹  will it speak to you with tender words? ² 

The sluggard will not plow ¹  during the planting season, ²  so at harvest time he looks ³  for the crop ⁴  but has nothing.

When we heard this, both we and the local people ¹  begged him not to go up to Jerusalem.

Then ¹  the entire town ²  came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they begged him to leave their region.

They begged him if ¹  they could only touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.

Then his fellow slave threw himself down and begged him, ¹  ‘Be patient with me, and I will repay you.’

The woman was a Greek, of Syrophoenician origin. She ¹  asked him to cast the demon out of her daughter.

They brought to him a deaf man who had difficulty speaking, and they asked him to place his hands on him.

So ¹  the rich man ²  said, ‘Then I beg you, father – send Lazarus ³  to my father’s house

because you are especially ¹  familiar with all the customs and controversial issues ²  of the Jews. Therefore I ask ³  you to listen to me patiently.

ד (Dalet) The infant’s tongue sticks to the roof of its mouth due to thirst; little children beg for bread, ¹  but no one gives them even a morsel. ² 

Then his lord called the first slave ¹  and said to him, ‘Evil slave! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me!

Now ¹  a leper ²  came to him and fell to his knees, asking for help. “If ³  you are willing, you can make me clean,” he said.

Then ¹  a man named Jairus, who was a ruler ²  of the synagogue, ³  came up. Falling ⁴  at Jesus’ feet, he pleaded ⁵  with him to come to his house,

Then ¹  a man from the crowd cried out, ²  “Teacher, I beg you to look at ³  my son – he is my only child!

and they recognized him as the man who used to sit and ask for donations ¹  at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with astonishment and amazement ²  at what had happened to him.

Give to the one who asks you, ¹  and do not reject ²  the one who wants to borrow from you.

When ¹  they came ²  to Jesus, they urged ³  him earnestly, ⁴  “He is worthy ⁵  to have you do this for him,

And wherever he would go – into villages, towns, or countryside – they would place the sick in the marketplaces, and would ask him if ¹  they could just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.

And a man lame ¹  from birth ²  was being carried up, who was placed at the temple gate called “the Beautiful Gate” every day ³  so he could beg for money ⁴  from those going into the temple courts. ⁵
