So they sent the ark of God to Ekron. But when the ark of God arrived at Ekron, the residents of Ekron cried out saying, “They have brought the ark of the God of Israel here ¹  to kill our ²  people!”

Then David said, “Only the Levites may carry the ark of God, for the Lord chose them to carry the ark of the Lord and to serve before him perpetually.

So Saul said to Ahijah, “Bring near the ephod,” ¹  for he was at that time wearing the ephod. ² 

The poles must remain in the rings of the ark; they must not be removed from it.

Then the people ¹  of Kiriath Jearim came and took the ark of the Lord; they brought it to the house of Abinadab located on the hill. They consecrated Eleazar his son to guard the ark of the Lord.

You are to put the atonement lid on the ark of the testimony in the Most Holy Place.

David ¹  left Asaph and his colleagues there before the ark of the Lord’s covenant to serve before the ark regularly and fulfill each day’s requirements, ² 

They transported the ark on a new cart from the house of Abinadab; Uzzah and Ahio were guiding the cart,

and set up in it a place for the ark containing the covenant the Lord made with the Israelites.”

Ascend, O Lord, to your resting place, you and the ark of your strength!

Make a roof for the ark and finish it, leaving 18 inches ¹  from the top. ²  Put a door in the side of the ark, and make lower, middle, and upper decks.

Joshua told the priests, “Pick up the ark of the covenant and pass on ahead of the people.” So they picked up the ark of the covenant and went ahead of the people.

So they assembled ¹  all the leaders of the Philistines and asked, “What should we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” They replied, “The ark of the God of Israel should be moved to Gath.” So they moved the ark of the God of Israel.

Look! The ark of the covenant of the Ruler ¹  of the whole earth is ready to enter the Jordan ahead of you.

and when all the people had finished crossing, the ark of the Lord and the priests crossed as the people looked on. ¹ 

Bright and early the next morning Joshua had the priests pick up the ark of the Lord. ¹ 

The Israelites asked the Lord (for the ark of God’s covenant was there in those days;

The ark of God was taken, and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phineas, were killed.
