Now the Jewish feast of Passover ¹  was near, and many people went up to Jerusalem ²  from the rural areas before the Passover to cleanse themselves ritually. ³ 

since it was because of the work of Christ that he almost died. He risked his life so that he could make up for your inability to serve me. ¹ 

When the man got ready to leave ¹  with his concubine and his servant, ²  his father-in-law, the girl’s father, said to him, “Look! The day is almost over! ³  Stay another night! Since the day is over, ⁴  stay another night here and have a good time. You can get up early tomorrow and start your trip home.” ⁵ 

Now on the way, at a place where they stopped for the night, ¹  the Lord met Moses and sought to kill him. ² 

(Now the ¹  flax and the barley were struck ²  by the hail, ³  for the barley had ripened ⁴  and the flax ⁵  was in bud.

Such were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoida, who gained fame among the three elite warriors.

Inside I am like wine which has no outlet, ¹  like new wineskins ²  ready to burst!

Where would I be if I did not believe I would experience the Lord’s favor in the land of the living? ¹ 

Please stop wounding me! ¹  You have almost beaten me to death! ² 

By the ninth day of the fourth month ¹  the famine in the city was so severe the residents ²  had no food.

For the day is near, the day of the Lord is near; it will be a day of storm clouds, ¹  it will be a time of judgment ²  for the nations.

Jesus ¹  went with him, and a large crowd followed and pressed around him.

Now when ¹  the days drew near ²  for him to be taken up, ³  Jesus ⁴  set out resolutely ⁵  to go to Jerusalem. ⁶ 

You who boast in the law dishonor God by transgressing the law!

When ¹  Isaac was old and his eyes were so weak that he was almost blind, ²  he called his older ³  son Esau and said to him, “My son!” “Here I am!” Esau ⁴  replied.

Be careful lest you entertain the wicked thought that the seventh year, the year of cancellation of debts, has almost arrived, and your attitude ¹  be wrong toward your impoverished fellow Israelite ²  and you do not lend ³  him anything; he will cry out to the Lord against you and you will be regarded as having sinned. ⁴ 

When ¹  the dove returned to him in the evening, there was ²  a freshly plucked olive leaf in its beak! Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth.

Isaac had just finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob had scarcely left ¹  his father’s ²  presence, when his brother Esau returned from the hunt. ³ 

On the vine there were three branches. As it budded, its blossoms opened and its clusters ripened into grapes.
