that he lavished on us in all wisdom and insight.

Wisdom is supreme ¹  – so ²  acquire wisdom, and whatever you acquire, ³  acquire understanding! ⁴ 

For wisdom provides ¹  protection, ²  just as ³  money provides protection. ⁴  But the advantage of knowledge is this: Wisdom preserves the life ⁵  of its owner.

Wisdom ¹  calls out ²  in the street, she shouts loudly ³  in the plazas; ⁴ 

The godly speak wise words and promote justice. ¹ 

To ¹  learn ²  wisdom ³  and moral instruction, ⁴  and to discern ⁵  wise counsel. ⁶ 

With pride ¹  comes only ²  contention, but wisdom is with the well-advised. ³ 

There is no wisdom and there is no understanding, and there is no counsel against ¹  the Lord. ² 

People from all nations came to hear Solomon’s display of wisdom; ¹  they came from all the kings of the earth who heard about his wisdom.

So I concluded that wisdom is better than might, ¹  but a poor man’s wisdom is despised; no one ever listens ²  to his advice. ³ 

The Lord who rules over all ¹  spoke about Edom. ²  “Is wisdom no longer to be found in Teman? ³  Can Edom’s counselors not give her any good advice? ⁴  Has all of their wisdom turned bad? ⁵ 

I will guide you ¹  in the way of wisdom and I will lead you in upright paths. ² 

My child, ²  be attentive to my wisdom, pay close attention ³  to my understanding,

Wisdom rests in the heart of the discerning; it is known ¹  even in the heart ²  of fools.

God gave Solomon wisdom and very great discernment; the breadth of his understanding ¹  was as infinite as the sand on the seashore.

Of coral and jasper no mention will be made; the price ¹  of wisdom is more than pearls. ² 

And he said to mankind, ‘The fear of the Lord ¹  – that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’” ² 

Fearing the Lord ¹  is the beginning ²  of moral knowledge, ³  but ⁴  fools ⁵  despise ⁶  wisdom and instruction. ⁷ 

by making ¹  your ear ²  attentive to wisdom, and ³  by turning ⁴  your heart ⁵  to understanding,

Blessed ¹  is the one ²  who finds ³  wisdom, and the one who obtains ⁴  understanding.
