So the men inside ¹  reached out ²  and pulled Lot back into the house ³  as they shut the door.

Even Assyria has allied with them, lending its strength to the descendants of Lot. ¹  (Selah)

Likewise, just as it was ¹  in the days of Lot, people ²  were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building;

but on the day Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. ¹

The dice are thrown into the lap, ¹  but their every decision ²  is from the Lord. ³ 

The land must be divided by lot; and they will inherit in accordance with the names of their ancestral tribes.

So the Israelites assigned to the Levites by lot these cities and their grazing areas, as the Lord had instructed Moses.

They cast lots to determine their responsibilities – oldest as well as youngest, teacher as well as student. ¹ 

They cast lots, both young and old, according to their families, to determine which gate they would be responsible for. ¹
