When I saw this, I gave careful consideration to it; ¹  I received instruction from what I saw: ² 

Therefore if you regard me as a partner, accept him as you would me.

My brothers and sisters, ¹  consider it nothing but joy ²  when you fall into all sorts of trials,

“For inquire now of the former ¹  generation, and pay attention ²  to the findings ³  of their ancestors; ⁴ 

Consider its defenses! ¹  Walk through ²  its fortresses, so you can tell the next generation about it! ³ 

I consider my actions ¹  and follow ²  your rules.

In times of prosperity ¹  be joyful, but in times of adversity ²  consider this: God has made one as well as the other, ³  so that no one can discover what the future holds. ⁴ 

Now therefore reflect carefully on the recent past, ¹  before one stone was laid on another in the Lord’s temple. ² 

Consider how the flowers ¹  grow; they do not work ²  or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these!

When I look up at the heavens, which your fingers made, and see the moon and the stars, which you set in place, ¹ 

A naive person ¹  believes everything, but the shrewd person discerns his steps. ² 

When you sit down to eat with a ruler, consider carefully ¹  what ²  is before you,

But those who are regarded as worthy to share in ¹  that age and in the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. ² 

Remember the ancient days; bear in mind ¹  the years of past generations. ²  Ask your father and he will inform you, your elders, and they will tell you.

However, fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. Just look at the great things he has done for you!

Even a fool who remains silent is considered ¹  wise, and the one who holds his tongue is deemed discerning. ² 

Next, I decided to consider ¹  wisdom, as well as foolish behavior and ideas. ²  For what more can the king’s successor do than what the king ³  has already done?

I will do this so ¹  people ²  will observe and recognize, so they will pay attention and understand that the Lord’s power ³  has accomplished this, and that the Holy One of Israel has brought it into being.” ⁴ 

The Lord who rules over all ¹  told me to say to this people, ²  “Take note of what I say. ³  Call for the women who mourn for the dead! Summon those who are the most skilled at it!” ⁴ 

Because he considered ¹  and turned from all the sins he had done, he will surely live; he will not die.
