Are they not across the Jordan River, ¹  toward the west, in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah opposite Gilgal ²  near the oak ³  of Moreh?

so that you may enter by oath into the covenant the Lord your God is making with you today. ¹ 

The people went up from the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month ¹  and camped in Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho. ² 

It then extended to the slope of Ekron to the north, went toward Shikkeron, crossed to Mount Baalah, extended to Jabneel, and ended at the sea.

It then extended on to the sea, with Micmethath on the north. It turned eastward to Taanath Shiloh and crossed it on the east to Janoah.

It then crossed to the slope of Beth Hoglah to the north and ended at the northern tip of the Salt Sea ¹  at the mouth of the Jordan River. ²  This was the southern border.

The Reubenites, Gadites, and half-tribe of Manasseh came to Geliloth near the Jordan in the land of Canaan and built there, near the Jordan, an impressive altar. ¹ 

The Israelites sent Phinehas, son of Eleazar, the priest, to the land of Gilead to the Reubenites, Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

Israel sent messengers to King Sihon, the Amorite king who ruled in Heshbon, and said to him, “Please allow us to pass through your land to our land.” ¹ 

The Lord’s spirit empowered ¹  Jephthah. He passed through Gilead and Manasseh and went ²  to Mizpah in Gilead. From there he approached the Ammonites. ³ 

So the Philistines were defeated; they did not invade Israel again. The hand of the Lord was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

David replied, “Here is the king’s spear! Let one of your servants cross over and get it.

So they got up and crossed over by number: twelve belonging to Benjamin and to Ish-bosheth son of Saul, and twelve from the servants of David.

So the king returned and came to the Jordan River. ¹  Now the people of Judah ²  had come to Gilgal to meet the king and to help him ³  cross the Jordan.

There were a thousand men from Benjamin with him, along with Ziba the servant ¹  of Saul’s household, and with him his fifteen sons and twenty servants. They hurriedly crossed ²  the Jordan within sight of the king.

When Araunah looked out and saw the king and his servants approaching him, he ¹  went out and bowed to the king with his face ²  to the ground.

So Jeroboam’s wife got up and went back to ¹  Tirzah. As she crossed the threshold of the house, the boy died.

Then the servants of the king who were at the king’s gate asked Mordecai, “Why are you violating the king’s commandment?”

Since man’s days ¹  are determined, ²  the number of his months is under your control; ³  you have set his limit ⁴  and he cannot pass it.

But he knows the pathway that I take; ¹  if he tested me, I would come forth like gold. ²
