At that time, ¹  some Pharisees ²  came up and said to Jesus, ³  “Get away from here, ⁴  because Herod ⁵  wants to kill you.”

Then ¹  he said to the disciples, “The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days ²  of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.

So after he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture ¹  and the saying ²  that Jesus had spoken.

(Now he said this about Judas son of Simon Iscariot, ¹  for Judas, ²  one of the twelve, was going to betray him.) ³ 

After this ¹  Jesus traveled throughout Galilee. ²  He ³  stayed out of Judea ⁴  because the Jewish leaders ⁵  wanted ⁶  to kill him.

But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then Jesus ¹  himself also went up, not openly but in secret.

Then Jesus ¹  said to them again, ²  “I am going away, and you will look for me ³  but will die in your sin. ⁴  Where I am going you cannot come.”

After this Jesus, realizing that by this time ¹  everything was completed, ²  said (in order to fulfill the scripture), ³  “I am thirsty!” ⁴ 

Then a famine occurred throughout ¹  Egypt and Canaan, causing ²  great suffering, and our ³  ancestors ⁴  could not find food.

and their bones ¹  were later moved to Shechem and placed in the tomb that Abraham had bought for a certain sum of money ²  from the sons of Hamor in Shechem.

Our ¹  ancestors ²  received possession of it and brought it in with Joshua when they dispossessed the nations that God drove out before our ancestors, ³  until the time ⁴  of David.

Then an angel of the Lord ¹  said to Philip, ²  “Get up and go south ³  on the road that goes down from Jerusalem ⁴  to Gaza.” (This is a desert ⁵  road.) ⁶ 

The following day ¹  he entered Caesarea. ²  Now Cornelius was waiting anxiously ³  for them and had called together his relatives and close friends.

Now when they heard about ¹  the resurrection from the dead, some began to scoff, ²  but others said, “We will hear you again about this.”

but said farewell to ¹  them and added, ²  “I will come back ³  to you again if God wills.” ⁴  Then ⁵  he set sail from Ephesus,

Paul said, “John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, ¹  that is, in Jesus.”

After three months we put out to sea ¹  in an Alexandrian ship that had wintered at the island and had the “Heavenly Twins” ²  as its figurehead. ³ 

And Isaiah is even bold enough to say, “I was found by those who did not seek me; I became well known to those who did not ask for me.” ¹ 

And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare seed ¹  – perhaps of wheat or something else.

For I do not want to see you now in passing, since I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord allows.
