You must care for it ¹  until the fourteenth day of this month, and then the whole community ²  of Israel will kill it around sundown. ³ 

If, however, ¹  the priest examines it, and ²  there is no white hair in it, it is not deeper than the skin, and it has faded, then the priest is to quarantine him for seven days. ³

But if the bright spot stays in its place, has not spread on the skin, ¹  and it has faded, then it is the swelling of the burn, so the priest is to pronounce him clean, ²  because it is the scar of the burn.

But if the priest has examined it and ¹  the infection has faded after it has been washed, he is to tear it out of ²  the garment or the leather or the warp or the woof.

Then they must put over it a covering of fine leather ¹  and spread over that a cloth entirely of blue, and then they must insert its poles.

“They must take a blue cloth and cover the lampstand of the light, with its lamps, its wick-trimmers, its trays, and all its oil vessels, with which they service it.

“They must spread a blue cloth on the gold altar, and cover it with a covering of fine leather; and they must insert its poles.

Then they must take all the utensils of the service, with which they serve in the sanctuary, put them in a blue cloth, cover them with a covering of fine leather, and put them on a carrying beam.

Your life will hang in doubt before you; you will be terrified by night and day and will have no certainty of surviving from one day to the next. ¹

“Why are times not appointed by ¹  the Almighty? ²  Why do those who know him not see his days?

you asked, ¹  ‘Who is this who darkens counsel without knowledge?’ But ²  I have declared without understanding ³  things too wonderful for me to know. ⁴ 

“Because of the violence done to the oppressed, ¹  because of the painful cries ²  of the needy, I will spring into action,” ³  says the Lord. “I will provide the safety they so desperately desire.” ⁴ 

Look at me! ¹  Answer me, O Lord my God! Revive me, ²  or else I will die! ³ 

Even when I must walk through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff reassure me. ¹
