Those who are evil will bow ¹  before those who are good, and the wicked will bow ²  at the gates ³  of the righteous.

Although ¹  a righteous person may fall seven times, he gets up again, but the wicked will be brought down ²  by calamity.

An unjust person is an abomination to the righteous, and the one who lives an upright life is an abomination to the wicked. ¹ 

But it will not go well with the wicked, nor will they ¹  prolong their ²  days like a shadow, ³  because they ⁴  do not stand in fear ⁵  before God.

You will not be buried with them, ¹  because you destroyed your land and killed your people. The offspring of the wicked will never be mentioned again.

But the wicked are like a surging sea that is unable to be quiet; its waves toss up mud and sand.

“Oh people of Jerusalem, purify your hearts from evil ¹  so that you may yet be delivered. How long will you continue to harbor up wicked schemes within you?

“Indeed, there are wicked scoundrels among my people. They lie in wait like bird catchers hiding in ambush. ¹  They set deadly traps ²  to catch people.

But your ancestors ¹  did not listen to me nor pay attention to me. They became obstinate ²  and were more wicked than even their own forefathers.’”

Lord, we confess that we have been wicked. We confess that our ancestors have done wrong. ¹  We have indeed ²  sinned against you.

And you have acted even more wickedly than your ancestors! Each one of you has followed the stubborn inclinations of your own wicked heart and not obeyed me. ¹ 

For I see everything they do. Their wicked ways are not hidden from me. Their sin is not hidden away where I cannot see it. ¹ 

Just watch! The wrath of the Lord will come like a storm. Like a raging storm it will rage down on the heads of those who are wicked.

I will give it to foreigners as loot, to the world’s wicked ones as plunder, and they will desecrate it.

The Lord ¹  said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who plot evil and give wicked advice in this city.

When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he will preserve his life.

Suppose I say to the wicked, ‘You must certainly die,’ but he turns from his sin and does what is just and right.

we have sinned! We have done what is wrong and wicked; we have rebelled by turning away from your commandments and standards.

Their wicked deeds do not allow them to return to their God; because a spirit of idolatry ¹  controls their heart, ²  and they do not acknowledge the Lord.

They do not realize ¹  that I remember all of their wicked deeds. Their evil deeds have now surrounded them; their sinful deeds are always before me. ²
