“If only I had ¹  someone to hear me! Here is my signature – ²  let the Almighty answer me! If only I had an indictment ³  that my accuser had written. ⁴ 

I will say, ¹  ‘My dear children of Israel, ²  keep in mind the road you took when you were carried off. ³  Mark off in your minds the landmarks. Make a mental note of telltale signs marking the way back. Return, my dear children of Israel. Return to these cities of yours.

Then Samuel took a small container of olive oil and poured it on Saul’s ¹  head. Samuel ²  kissed him and said, “The Lord has chosen you ³  to lead his people Israel! Whether it is for punishment ¹  for his land, or whether it is for mercy, he causes it to find its mark. ² 

Yes, ¹  they devise a unified strategy; ²  they form an alliance ³  against you.

In the morning, at the earliest sign of daylight, the king got up and rushed to the lions’ den.

Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures ¹  will gather. ²

After three months we put out to sea ¹  in an Alexandrian ship that had wintered at the island and had the “Heavenly Twins” ²  as its figurehead. ³ 

those with tears like those not weeping, those who rejoice like those not rejoicing, those who buy like those without possessions,

If I am not an apostle to others, at least I am to you, for you are the confirming sign ¹  of my apostleship in the Lord.
