For God has put into their minds ¹  to carry out his purpose ²  by making ³  a decision ⁴  to give their royal power ⁵  to the beast until the words of God are fulfilled. ⁶ 

Saul replied, “Here is what you should say to David: ‘There is nothing that the king wants as a price for the bride except a hundred Philistine foreskins, so that he can be avenged of his ¹  enemies.’” (Now Saul was thinking that he could kill David by the hand of the Philistines.)

Then some people ¹  said, “Come on! Let us consider how to deal with Jeremiah! ²  There will still be priests to instruct us, wise men to give us advice, and prophets to declare God’s word. ³  Come on! Let’s bring charges against him and get rid of him! ⁴  Then we will not need to pay attention to anything he says.”

ע (Ayin) The Lord has done what he planned; he has fulfilled ¹  his promise ²  that he threatened ³  long ago: ⁴  He has overthrown you without mercy ⁵  and has enabled the enemy to gloat over you; he has exalted your adversaries’ power. ⁶ 

His intention ¹  will be to come with the strength of his entire kingdom, and he will form alliances. ²  He will give the king of the south ³  a daughter ⁴  in marriage in order to destroy the kingdom, but it will not turn out to his advantage.

For the law possesses a shadow of the good things to come but not the reality itself, and is therefore completely unable, by the same sacrifices offered continually, year after year, to perfect those who come to worship. ¹ 

Abraham approached and said, “Will you sweep away the godly along with the wicked?

Jacob also deceived ¹  Laban the Aramean by not telling him that he was leaving. ² 

Then the Lord relented over the evil that he had said he would do to his people.

Now this is what we will do to Gibeah: We will attack the city as the lot dictates. ¹ 

So he ¹  said to her, “How often do you intend to get drunk? Put away your wine!”

Jonathan said to him, “Tomorrow is the new moon, and you will be missed, for your seat will be empty.

All of them conspired together to move with armed forces ¹  against Jerusalem and to create a disturbance in it.

Do you listen in on God’s secret council? ¹  Do you limit ²  wisdom to yourself?

His vigorous steps ¹  are restricted, ²  and his own counsel throws him down. ³ 

But their prosperity is not their own doing. ¹  The counsel of the wicked is far from me! ² 

But it was he ¹  who filled their houses with good things – yet the counsel of the wicked ²  was far from me. ³ 

They destroy ¹  my path; they succeed in destroying me ²  without anyone assisting ³  them.

to turn a person from his sin, ¹  and to cover a person’s pride. ² 

Would your wealth ¹  sustain you, so that you would not be in distress, ²  even all your mighty efforts? ³
