Together they lie down in the dust, and worms cover over them both.

But I ¹  am a worm, ²  not a man; ³  people insult me and despise me. ⁴ 

where their worm never dies and the fire is never quenched.

So God sent ¹  a worm at dawn the next day, and it attacked the little plant so that it dried up.

If I cry ¹  to corruption, ²  ‘You are my father,’ and to the worm, ‘My Mother,’ or ‘My sister,’

how much less a mortal man, who is but a maggot ¹  – a son of man, who is only a worm!”

My body ¹  is clothed ²  with worms ³  and dirty scabs; ⁴  my skin is broken ⁵  and festering.

So they put it aside until the morning, just as Moses had commanded, and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it.

Your splendor ¹  has been brought down to Sheol, as well as the sound of your stringed instruments. ²  You lie on a bed of maggots, with a blanket of worms over you. ³

You will plant vineyards and cultivate them, but you will not drink wine or gather in grapes, because worms will eat them.

The womb ¹  forgets him, the worm feasts on him, no longer will he be remembered. Like a tree, wickedness will be broken down.

Immediately an angel of the Lord ¹  struck ²  Herod ³  down because he did not give the glory to God, and he was eaten by worms and died. ⁴

But they did not listen to Moses; some ¹  kept part of it until morning, and it was full ²  of worms and began to stink, and Moses was angry with them.

For a moth will eat away at them like clothes; a clothes moth will devour them like wool. But the vindication I provide ¹  will be permanent; the deliverance I give will last.”

“They will go out and observe the corpses of those who rebelled against me, for the maggots that eat them will not die, ¹  and the fire that consumes them will not die out. ²  All people will find the sight abhorrent.” ³ 

What the gazam-locust left the ‘arbeh-locust consumed, ¹  what the ‘arbeh-locust left the yeleq-locust consumed, and what the yeleq-locust left the hasil-locust consumed! ² 

He gave their crops to the grasshopper, the fruit of their labor to the locust.
