Serve ¹  the Lord in fear! Repent in terror! ² 

The pillars ¹  of the heavens tremble and are amazed at his rebuke. ² 

His lightning bolts light up the world; the earth sees and trembles.

Tremble, O earth, before the Lord – before the God of Jacob,

Foreigners lose their courage; ¹  they shake with fear ²  as they leave ³  their strongholds. ⁴ 

he who shakes the earth out of its place ¹  so that its pillars tremble; ²

Now the coastlands will tremble on the day of your fall; the coastlands by the sea will be terrified by your passing.’ ¹
