Pleasant words are like ¹  a honeycomb, ²  sweet to the soul and healing ³  to the bones.

Light ¹  is sweet, ²  and it is pleasant for a person ³  to see the sun. ⁴ 

Those who call evil good and good evil are as good as dead, ¹  who turn darkness into light and light into darkness, who turn bitter into sweet and sweet into bitter. ² 

Bread gained by deceit ¹  tastes sweet to a person, ²  but afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel. ³ 

Eat honey, ¹  my child, for it is good, and honey from the honeycomb is sweet to your taste.

The one whose appetite ¹  is satisfied loathes honey, but to the hungry mouth ²  every bitter thing is sweet.

“If ¹  evil is sweet in his mouth and he hides it under his tongue, ² 

Your words are sweeter in my mouth than honey! ¹ 

“Stolen waters ¹  are sweet, and food obtained in secret ²  is pleasant!”

A desire fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools abhor ¹  turning away from evil.

Ointment and incense make the heart rejoice, ¹  likewise the sweetness of one’s friend from sincere counsel. ² 

I take no delight ¹  when they offer up to me ²  frankincense that comes from Sheba or sweet-smelling cane imported from a faraway land. I cannot accept the burnt offerings they bring me. I get no pleasure from the sacrifices they offer to me.’ ³ 

Sing ¹  a song and play the tambourine, the pleasant sounding harp, and the ten-stringed instrument!

Then they will say, ‘Under these conditions I can enjoy sweet sleep when I wake up and look around.’” ¹ 

When ¹  you lie down you will not be filled with fear; ²  when ³  you lie down your sleep will be pleasant. ⁴ 

The Lord said to Moses: “Take ¹  spices, gum resin, ²  onycha, ³  galbanum, ⁴  and pure frankincense ⁵  of equal amounts ⁶ 

But the fig tree said to them, ‘I am not going to stop producing my sweet figs, my excellent fruit, just to sway above the other trees!’ ¹ 

oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for fragrant incense,

and he burned fragrant incense on it, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

He said to them, “Out of the one who eats came something to eat; out of the strong one came something sweet.” They could not solve the riddle for three days.
