I say this as a concession, not as a command.

The king then said to Haman, “Go quickly! Take the clothing and the horse, just as you have described, and do as you just indicated to Mordecai the Jew who sits at the king’s gate. Don’t neglect ¹  a single thing of all that you have said.”

This advice made sense to Pharaoh and all his officials. ¹ 

The king responded to the people harshly. He ¹  rejected the advice of the older men

Haman’s ¹  wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, “Have a gallows seventy-five feet ²  high built, and in the morning tell the king that Mordecai should be hanged on it. Then go with the king to the banquet contented.” ³  It seemed like a good idea to Haman, so he had the gallows built.

“People ¹  listened to me and waited silently; ²  they kept silent for my advice.

When there is no guidance ¹  a nation falls, but there is success ²  in the abundance of counselors.

Plans fail ¹  when there is no counsel, but with abundant advisers they are established. ² 

There is no wisdom and there is no understanding, and there is no counsel against ¹  the Lord. ² 

Have I not written thirty sayings ¹  for you, sayings ²  of counsel and knowledge,

So the warden ¹  agreed to their proposal ²  and tested them for ten ³  days.

My advice therefore is this: Let all Israel from Dan to Beer Sheba – in number like the sand by the sea! – be mustered to you, and you lead them personally into battle.

Then Hushai reported to Zadok and Abiathar the priests, “Here is what Ahithophel has advised Absalom and the leaders ¹  of Israel to do, and here is what I have advised.

The Lord said, ‘Who will deceive Ahab, so he will attack Ramoth Gilead and die ¹  there?’ One said this and another that.

The Lord said, ‘Who will deceive King Ahab of Israel, so he will attack Ramoth Gilead and die there?’ One said this and another that.

When it became the turn of Esther daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai (who had raised her as if she were his own daughter ¹ ) to go to the king, she did not request anything except what Hegai the king’s eunuch, who was overseer of the women, had recommended. Yet Esther met with the approval of all who saw her.

“So now Pharaoh should look ¹  for a wise and discerning man ²  and give him authority ³  over all the land of Egypt.

Moses listened to ¹  his father-in-law and did everything he had said.

All you Israelites, ¹  make a decision here!” ² 

Then Saul’s servants said to him, “Look, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you!”
