if ¹  you seek ²  it like silver, ³  and search for it ⁴  like hidden treasure,

that ¹  you must search out ²  my iniquity, and inquire about my sin,

Then the man ¹  searched. He began with the oldest and finished with the youngest. The cup was found in Benjamin’s sack!

So Darius the king issued orders, and they searched in the archives ¹  of the treasury which were deposited there in Babylon.

For the music director, a psalm of David. O Lord, you examine me ²  and know.

Examine me, and probe my thoughts! ¹  Test me, and know my concerns! ² 

The one who diligently seeks ¹  good seeks favor, but the one who searches ²  for evil – it will come to him. ³
