Now ¹  when the Lamb ²  opened the seventh seal there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.

Then ¹  I saw in the right hand of the one who was seated on the throne a scroll written on the front and back ²  and sealed with seven seals. ³ 

She wrote out orders, ¹  signed Ahab’s name to them, ²  and sealed them with his seal. She then sent the orders ³  to the leaders ⁴  and to the nobles who lived in Naboth’s city. ⁵ 

Now ¹  I heard the number of those who were marked with the seal, ²  one hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed from all ³  the tribes of the people of Israel: ⁴ 

On the sealed documents were the following names: ¹  Nehemiah the governor, son of Hacaliah, along with Zedekiah,

he who commands the sun and ¹  it does not shine ²  and seals up ³  the stars;

I signed the deed of purchase, ¹  sealed it, and had some men serve as witnesses to the purchase. ²  I weighed out the silver for him on a scale.

So ¹  they went with the soldiers ²  of the guard and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone.

Then ¹  when the Lamb ²  opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!”

Then ¹  when the Lamb opened the fourth seal I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come!”

Then ¹  he said to me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy contained in this book, because the time is near.

To you this entire prophetic revelation ¹  is like words in a sealed scroll. When they hand it to one who can read ²  and say, “Read this,” he responds, “I can’t, because it is sealed.”

“Is this not stored up with me?” says the Lord, ¹  “Is it not sealed up in my storehouses?

My offenses would be sealed up ¹  in a bag; ²  you would cover over ³  my sin.

The Beloved to Her Lover: Set me like a cylinder seal ¹  over your heart, ²  like a signet ³  on your arm. ⁴  For love is as strong as death, ⁵  passion ⁶  is as unrelenting ⁷  as Sheol. Its flames burst forth, ⁸  it is a blazing flame. ⁹ 

(10:1) ¹  “Because of all of this we are entering into a binding covenant ²  in written form; ³  our leaders, our Levites, and our priests have affixed their names ⁴  on the sealed document.”

From the tribe of Judah, twelve thousand were sealed, from the tribe of Reuben, twelve thousand, from the tribe of Gad, twelve thousand,

The earth takes shape like clay under a seal; ¹  its features ²  are dyed ³  like a garment.

Its back ¹  has rows of shields, shut up closely ²  together as with a seal;

Tie up the scroll as legal evidence, ¹  seal the official record of God’s instructions and give it to my followers. ²
