When he imposed a limit ¹  for the rain, and a path for the thunderstorm, ² 

They waited for me as people wait ¹  for the rain, and they opened their mouths ²  as for ³  the spring rains.

Ask the Lord for rain in the season of the late spring rains ¹  – the Lord who causes thunderstorms – and he will give everyone showers of rain and green growth in the field.

then he promises, ¹  “I will send rain for your land ²  in its season, the autumn and the spring rains, ³  so that you may gather in your grain, new wine, and olive oil.

“I withheld rain from you three months before the harvest. ¹  I gave rain to one city, but not to another. One field ²  would get rain, but the field that received no rain dried up.

And the rain fell ¹  on the earth forty days and forty nights.

he gives ¹  rain on the earth, ²  and sends ³  water on the fields; ⁴ 

Does the rain have a father, or who has fathered the drops of the dew?

Look! The winter has passed, the winter rains are over and gone.

For to the snow he says, ‘Fall ¹  to earth,’ and to the torrential rains, ²  ‘Pour down.’ ³ 

By day it will be a shelter to provide shade from the heat, as well as safety and protection from the heavy downpour. ¹ 

After a while, ¹  the stream dried up because there had been no rain in the land.

My teaching will drop like the rain, my sayings will drip like the dew, ¹  as rain drops upon the grass, and showers upon new growth.

Elijah was a human being ¹  like us, and he prayed earnestly ²  that it would not rain and there was no rain on the land for three years and six months!

He sent hail along with the rain; ¹  there was lightning in their land. ²

The fountains of the deep and the floodgates of heaven were closed, ¹  and the rain stopped falling from the sky.

Then the Lord rained down ¹  sulfur and fire ²  on Sodom and Gomorrah. It was sent down from the sky by the Lord. ³ 

I will give you your rains in their time so that ¹  the land will give its yield and the trees of the field will produce their fruit. ²
