Their children ¹  are firmly established in their presence, ²  their offspring before their eyes.

And I will put hostility ¹  between you and the woman and between your offspring and her offspring; ²  her offspring will attack ³  your head, and ⁴  you ⁵  will attack her offspring’s heel.” ⁶ 

They crouch, they bear ¹  their young, they bring forth the offspring they have carried. ² 

You destroy their offspring ¹  from the earth, their descendants ²  from among the human race. ³ 

But approach, you sons of omen readers, you offspring of adulteresses and prostitutes! ¹ 

Their descendants will be known among the nations, their offspring among the peoples. All who see them will recognize that the Lord has blessed them.” ¹ 

You will also know that your children ¹  will be numerous, and your descendants ²  like the grass of the earth.

If his children increase – it is for the sword! ¹  His offspring never have enough to eat. ² 

His father’s family will gain increasing prominence because of him, ¹  including the offspring and the offshoots. ²  All the small containers, including the bowls and all the jars will hang from this peg.’ ³ 

For I will pour water on the parched ground ¹  and cause streams to flow ²  on the dry land. I will pour my spirit on your offspring and my blessing on your children.

All the descendants of Israel will be vindicated by the Lord and will boast in him. ¹ 

For in him we live and move about ¹  and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we too are his offspring.’ ² 

I will multiply your descendants so they will be as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give them ¹  all these lands. All the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using the name of your descendants. ² 

Your descendants would have been as numerous as sand, ¹  and your children ²  like its granules. Their name would not have been cut off and eliminated from my presence. ³ 

So since we are God’s offspring, we should not think the deity ¹  is like gold or silver or stone, an image ²  made by human ³  skill ⁴  and imagination. ⁵ 

But Onan knew that the child ¹  would not be considered his. ²  So whenever ³  he had sexual relations with ⁴  his brother’s wife, he withdrew prematurely ⁵  so as not to give his brother a descendant.

You loyal followers of the Lord, ¹  praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! All you descendants of Israel, stand in awe of him! ² 

At whom are you laughing? At whom are you opening your mouth and sticking out your tongue? You are the children of rebels, the offspring of liars, ¹ 

They will not work in vain, or give birth to children that will experience disaster. ¹  For the Lord will bless their children and their descendants. ² 

I will give all the land that you see to you and your descendants ¹  forever.
