Abraham ¹  planted a tamarisk tree ²  in Beer Sheba. There he worshiped the Lord, ³  the eternal God.

Whirring locusts ¹  will take over every tree and all the produce of your soil.

“So the trees said to the fig tree, ‘You come and be our king!’ ¹ 

The godly ¹  grow like a palm tree; they grow high like a cedar in Lebanon. ² 

Hope ¹  deferred ²  makes the heart sick, ³  but a longing fulfilled ⁴  is like ⁵  a tree of life.

For you will be like a tree whose leaves wither, like an orchard ¹  that is unwatered.

They will sprout up like a tree in the grass, ¹  like poplars beside channels of water.

All the trees of the field will know that I am the Lord. I make the high tree low; I raise up the low tree. I make the green tree wither, and I make the dry tree sprout. I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will do it!’”

If the clouds are full of rain, they will empty themselves on the earth, and whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, the tree will lie wherever it falls.
