After instructing the crowd to sit down on the ground,

the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, and on those who sit in the region and shadow of death a light has dawned.” ¹ 

“The ¹  experts in the law ²  and the Pharisees ³  sit on Moses’ seat.

Then he directed them all to sit down in groups on the green grass.

do you pay attention to the one who is finely dressed and say, ¹  “You sit here in a good place,” ²  and to the poor person, “You stand over there,” or “Sit on the floor”? ³ 

‘The Lord said to my lord, ¹  “Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet”’? ² 

Then ¹  they went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus ²  said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.”

For David himself says in the book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to my ¹  lord, “Sit at my right hand,

And such a large crowd gathered around him that he got into a boat to sit while ¹  the whole crowd stood on the shore.

“When ¹  the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.

Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”

They said to him, “Permit one of us to sit at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory.”

but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give. It is for those for whom it has been prepared.” ¹

The man ¹  replied, ‘A hundred measures ²  of olive oil.’ The manager ³  said to him, ‘Take your bill, sit down quickly, and write fifty.’ ⁴ 

that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and you will sit ¹  on thrones judging ²  the twelve tribes of Israel.

Jesus said, “Have ¹  the people sit down.” (Now there was a lot of grass in that place.) ²  So the men ³  sat down, about five thousand in number.

Then the neighbors and the people who had seen him previously ¹  as a beggar began saying, ²  “Is this not the man ³  who used to sit and beg?”
