So ¹  he sent and had John beheaded in the prison.

(For John had not yet been thrown into prison.) ¹ 

Remember those in prison as though you were in prison with them, ¹  and those ill-treated as though you too felt their torment. ² 

When ¹  did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

Herod added this to them all: He locked up John in prison.

In it ¹  he went and preached to the spirits in prison, ² 

Now ¹  when the thousand years are finished, Satan will be released from his prison

Joseph’s master took him and threw him into the prison, ¹  the place where the king’s prisoners were confined. So he was there in the prison. ² 

The one who suffers ¹  will soon be released; he will not die in prison, ²  he will not go hungry. ³ 

Now when John ¹  heard in prison about the deeds Christ ²  had done, he sent his disciples to ask a question: ³ 

But he refused. Instead, he went out and threw him in prison until he repaid the debt.

But Peter ¹  said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!” ² 

(This ¹  was a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection ²  started in the city, and for murder.) ³ 

But during the night an angel of the Lord ¹  opened ²  the doors of the prison, ³  led them out, ⁴  and said,

But the officers ¹  who came for them ²  did not find them in the prison, so they returned and reported, ³ 

So Peter was kept in prison, but those in the church were earnestly ¹  praying to God for him. ² 

After they had beaten them severely, ¹  they threw them into prison and commanded ²  the jailer to guard them securely.

The ¹  whole imperial guard ²  and everyone else knows ³  that I am in prison ⁴  for the sake of Christ,

But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him kindness. ¹  He granted him favor in the sight of the prison warden. ² 

But remember me ¹  when it goes well for you, and show ²  me kindness. ³  Make mention ⁴  of me to Pharaoh and bring me out of this prison, ⁵
