That night God told Nathan the prophet, ¹ 

Day after day it speaks out; ¹  night after night it reveals his greatness. ² 

Night pierces ¹  my bones; ²  my gnawing pains ³  never cease.

Here is a message about Dumah: ¹  Someone calls to me from Seir, ²  “Watchman, what is left of the night? Watchman, what is left of the night?” ³ 

Jacob ¹  stayed there that night. Then he sent ²  as a gift ³  to his brother Esau

Therefore, he knows their deeds, he overthrows them ¹  in the night ²  and they are crushed.

But no one says, ‘Where is God, my Creator, who gives songs in the night, ¹ 

Do not long for the cover of night to drag people away from their homes. ¹ 

I will praise ¹  the Lord who ²  guides ³  me; yes, during the night I reflect and learn. ⁴ 

Day and night they walk around on its walls, ¹  while wickedness and destruction ²  are within it.

You established the cycle of day and night; ¹  you put the moon ²  and sun in place. ³ 

You need not fear the terrors of the night, ¹  the arrow that flies by day,
