For all flesh ¹  is like grass and all its glory like the flower of the grass; ²  the grass withers and the flower falls off,

When the hay is removed and new grass appears, and the grass from the hills is gathered in,

The grass dries up, the flowers wither, when the wind sent by the Lord ¹  blows on them. Surely humanity ²  is like grass.

For they will quickly dry up like grass, and wither away like plants. ¹ 

Let them disappear ¹  like water that flows away! ²  Let them wither like grass! ³ 

He ¹  will descend like rain on the mown grass, ²  like showers that drench ³  the earth. ⁴
