My kinsmen have failed me; my friends ¹  have forgotten me. ² 

My enemies ask this cruel question about me, ¹  ‘When will he finally die and be forgotten?’ ² 

Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has his anger stifled his compassion?”

“Zion said, ‘The Lord has abandoned me, the sovereign master ¹  has forgotten me.’

I will bring on you lasting shame and lasting disgrace which will never be forgotten!’”

I ¹  am deprived ²  of peace; ³  I have forgotten what happiness ⁴  is.

You have forgotten ¹  the Rock who fathered you, and put out of mind the God who gave you birth.

May his ancestors’ ¹  sins be remembered by the Lord! May his mother’s sin not be forgotten! ² 

Now ¹  they had forgotten to take bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.

Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? ¹  Yet not one of them is forgotten before God.

But seven years of famine will occur ¹  after them, and all the abundance will be forgotten in the land of Egypt. The famine will devastate ²  the land.

At that time ¹  Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, ²  the typical life span of a king. ³  At the end of seventy years Tyre will try to attract attention again, like the prostitute in the popular song: ⁴ 

Does a young woman forget to put on her jewels? Does a bride forget to put on her bridal attire? But my people have forgotten me for more days than can even be counted.

“A noise is heard on the hilltops. It is the sound of the people of Israel crying and pleading to their gods. Indeed they have followed sinful ways; ¹  they have forgotten to be true to the Lord their God. ²
