Now the famine was severe in the land. ¹ 

There was a famine in the land, so Abram went down to Egypt ¹  to stay for a while ²  because the famine was severe. ³ 

But seven years of famine will occur ¹  after them, and all the abundance will be forgotten in the land of Egypt. The famine will devastate ²  the land.

The previous abundance of the land will not be remembered ¹  because of the famine that follows, for the famine will be very severe. ² 

While the famine was over all the earth, ¹  Joseph opened the storehouses ²  and sold grain to the Egyptians. The famine was severe throughout the land of Egypt.

So Elijah went to make an appearance before Ahab. Now the famine was severe in Samaria. ¹ 

by saving their lives from death ¹  and sustaining them during times of famine. ² 

He called down a famine upon the earth; he cut off all the food supply. ¹ 

There was a famine in the land, subsequent to the earlier famine that occurred ¹  in the days of Abraham. ²  Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines at Gerar.

This food should be held in storage for the land in preparation for the seven years of famine that will occur throughout the land of Egypt. In this way the land will survive the famine.” ¹ 

Then the seven years of famine began, ¹  just as Joseph had predicted. There was famine in all the other lands, but throughout the land of Egypt there was food.

But there was no food in all the land because the famine was very severe; the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan wasted away ¹  because of the famine.

I will shoot against them deadly, ¹  destructive ²  arrows of famine, ³  which I will shoot to destroy you. ⁴  I will prolong a famine on you and will remove the bread supply. ⁵ 

The sword is outside; pestilence and famine are inside the house. Whoever is in the open field will die by the sword, and famine and pestilence will consume everyone in the city.

Two sons were born to Joseph before the famine came. ¹  Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, was their mother. ² 

People from every country ¹  came to Joseph in Egypt to buy grain because the famine was severe throughout the earth.

You will laugh at destruction and famine ¹  and need not ²  be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

They will not be ashamed when hard times come; ¹  when famine comes they will have enough to eat. ² 

So Israel’s sons came to buy grain among the other travelers, ¹  for the famine was severe in the land of Canaan.

For these past two years there has been famine in ¹  the land and for five more years there will be neither plowing nor harvesting.
