All ¹  who were sitting in the council ²  looked intently at Stephen ³  and saw his face was like the face of an angel. ⁴ 

When ¹  you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face,

Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists. And some slapped him,

For ¹  it will overtake ²  all who live on the face of the whole earth. ³ 

And just as people ¹  are appointed to die once, and then to face judgment, ² 

and they will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.

I answered them ¹  that it was not the custom of the Romans to hand over anyone ²  before the accused had met his accusers face to face ³  and had been given ⁴  an opportunity to make a defense against the accusation. ⁵ 

For now we see in a mirror indirectly, ¹  but then we will see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known.

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you, ¹  and for those in Laodicea, and for those who have not met me face to face. ² 

Though I have many other ¹  things to write to you, I do not want to do so with ²  paper and ink, ³  but I hope to come visit you and speak face to face, ⁴  so that our joy may be complete. ⁵ 

But I hope to see you right away, and we will speak face to face. ¹  (1:15) Peace be with you. ²  The friends here ³  greet you. Greet the friends ⁴  there ⁵  by name.

And he was transfigured before them. ¹  His ²  face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.

As ¹  he was praying, ²  the appearance of his face was transformed, ³  and his clothes became very bright, a brilliant white. ⁴ 

He ¹  fell with his face to the ground ²  at Jesus’ feet and thanked him. ³  (Now ⁴  he was a Samaritan.) ⁵ 

But when Cephas ¹  came to Antioch, ²  I opposed him to his face, because he had clearly done wrong. ³ 

since you are encountering ¹  the same conflict that you saw me face and now hear that I am facing. ² 

They will face a reckoning before ¹  Jesus Christ ²  who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.

They ¹  came up to him again and again ²  and said, “Hail, king of the Jews!” ³  And they struck him repeatedly ⁴  in the face.

and the face cloth, ¹  which had been around Jesus’ head, not lying with the strips of linen cloth but rolled up in a place by itself. ² 

For if someone merely listens to the message and does not live it out, he is like someone ¹  who gazes at his own face ²  in a mirror.
