But God raised ¹  him from the dead,

But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.” ¹ 

And although you were ¹  dead ²  in your transgressions and sins,

For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

Pilate was surprised that he was already dead. He ¹  called the centurion and asked him if he had been dead for some time.

But Jesus ¹  said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, ²  but as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” ³ 

Now if Christ is being preached as raised from the dead, ¹  how can some of you say there is no resurrection of the dead?

Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? ¹  If the dead are not raised at all, then why are they baptized for them?

Heal the sick, raise the dead, ¹  cleanse lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

The ¹  guards were shaken and became like dead men because they were so afraid of him.

They kept this statement to themselves, discussing what this rising from the dead meant.

He is not the God of the dead but of the living. ¹  You are badly mistaken!”

And they began making fun ¹  of him, because they knew ²  that she was dead. ³ 

(For they did not yet understand ¹  the scripture that Jesus ²  must rise from the dead.) ³ 

angry ¹  because they were teaching the people and announcing ²  in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.

Why do you people ¹  think ²  it is unbelievable ³  that ⁴  God raises the dead?

So you too consider yourselves ¹  dead to sin, but ²  alive to God in Christ Jesus.

or “Who will descend into the abyss?” ¹  (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).

That is why many of you are weak and sick, and quite a few are dead. ¹ 

But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.
