that ¹  if our conscience condemns ²  us, that ³  God is greater than our conscience and knows all things.

Eat anything that is sold in the marketplace without questions of conscience,

holding to the mystery of the faith ¹  with a clear conscience.

This is the reason ¹  I do my best to always ²  have a clear ³  conscience toward God and toward people. ⁴ 

¹ I am telling the truth in Christ (I am not lying!), for my conscience assures me ²  in the Holy Spirit –

If you sin against your brothers or sisters ¹  in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

For this finds God’s favor, ¹  if because of conscience toward God ²  someone endures hardships in suffering unjustly.

And by this ¹  we will know that we are of the truth and will convince ²  our conscience ³  in his presence, ⁴ 

Dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have confidence in the presence of God,

Paul looked directly ¹  at the council ²  and said, “Brothers, I have lived my life with a clear conscience ³  before God to this day.”

They ¹  show that the work of the law is written ²  in their hearts, as their conscience bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or else defend ³  them, ⁴ 

Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath of the authorities ¹  but also because of your conscience. ² 

For if someone weak sees you who possess knowledge dining in an idol’s temple, will not his conscience be “strengthened” ¹  to eat food offered to idols?

If an unbeliever invites you to dinner and you want to go, eat whatever is served without asking questions of conscience.

But if someone says to you, “This is from a sacrifice,” do not eat, because of the one who told you and because of conscience ¹  –

I do not mean yours but the other person’s. For why is my freedom being judged by another’s conscience?

But the aim of our instruction ¹  is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith. ² 

To do this ¹  you must hold firmly to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck in regard to the faith.

This was a symbol for the time then present, when gifts and sacrifices were offered that could not perfect the conscience of the worshiper.

Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to conduct ourselves rightly in every respect.
