When the sun went down, Abram fell sound asleep, ¹  and great terror overwhelmed him. ² 

The bravehearted ¹  were plundered; ²  they “fell asleep.” ³  All the warriors were helpless. ⁴ 

When ¹  the bridegroom was delayed a long time, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

or else he might find you asleep when he returns suddenly.

Then the disciples replied, ¹  “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.”

Furthermore, those who have fallen asleep ¹  in Christ have also perished.

For now ¹  I would be lying down and ²  would be quiet, ³  I would be asleep and then at peace ⁴ 

At the sound of your battle cry, ¹  O God of Jacob, both rider ²  and horse “fell asleep.” ³ 

he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but asleep.” And they began making fun of him. ¹ 

telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came at night and stole his body ¹  while we were asleep.’

When he entered he said to them, “Why are you distressed and weeping? The child is not dead but asleep.”

After he said this, he added, ¹  “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep. ²  But I am going there to awaken him.”

But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

He died ¹  for us so that whether we are alert or asleep ²  we will come to life together with him.

Then he fell asleep again and had a second dream: There were seven heads of grain growing ¹  on one stalk, healthy ²  and good.

He stretched out ¹  and fell asleep under the shrub. All of a sudden an angelic messenger ²  touched him and said, “Get up and eat.”

You bring their lives to an end and they “fall asleep.” ¹  In the morning they are like the grass that sprouts up;

The evergreens also rejoice over your demise, ¹  as do the cedars of Lebanon, singing, ²  ‘Since you fell asleep, ³  no woodsman comes up to chop us down!’ ⁴ 

And a great storm developed on the sea so that the waves began to swamp the boat. But he was asleep.

Now they were all ¹  wailing and mourning ²  for her, but he said, “Stop your weeping; she is not dead but asleep.”
