This is the account of Isaac, ¹  the son of Abraham. Abraham became the father of Isaac.

What follows is the account of Esau (also known as Edom). ¹ 

This is the account of Esau, the father ¹  of the Edomites, in the hill country of Seir.

I myself will also walk in hostility against you and strike you ¹  seven times on account of your sins.

and called David’s enemies to account.” So Jonathan made a covenant ¹  with the house of David. ² 

The account of his intervention ¹  will be recorded for future generations; people yet to be born will praise the Lord.

This is the account ¹  of the heavens and the earth ²  when they were created – when the Lord God ³  made the earth and heavens. ⁴ 

This is the account of Noah. ¹  Noah was a godly man; he was blameless ²  among his contemporaries. ³  He ⁴  walked with ⁵  God.

This is the account ¹  of Noah’s sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Sons ²  were born ³  to them after the flood.

This is the account of Shem. Shem was 100 old when he became the father of Arphaxad, two years after the flood.

This is the account of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot.

So tell them ¹  you are my sister ²  so that it may go well ³  for me because of you and my life will be spared ⁴  on account of you.”

and he did treat Abram well ¹  on account of her. Abram received ²  sheep and cattle, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels.

This is the account of Abraham’s son Ishmael, ¹  whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s servant, bore to Abraham.

You must not hate your brother in your heart. You must surely reprove your fellow citizen so that you do not incur sin on account of him. ¹ 

“‘If, in spite of all these things, ¹  you do not obey me, I will discipline you seven times more on account of your sins. ² 

I will walk in hostile rage against you ¹  and I myself will also discipline you seven times on account of your sins.

As for me, the Lord was also angry with me on your account. He said, “You also will not be able to go there.

Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, including a detailed account of how he killed all the prophets with the sword.

He also removed the Sabbath awning ¹  that had been built ²  in the temple and the king’s outer entranceway, on account of the king of Assyria. ³
