But as for you, ¹  be fruitful and multiply; increase abundantly on the earth and multiply on it.”

when your cattle and flocks increase, when you have plenty of silver and gold, and when you have abundance of everything,

saying, “Surely I will bless you greatly and multiply your descendants abundantly.” ¹ 

For because ¹  of me your days will be many, and years will be added ²  to your life.

But the word of God ¹  kept on increasing ²  and multiplying.

God blessed them ¹  and said, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.” ² 

The Israelites, ¹  however, ²  were fruitful, increased greatly, multiplied, and became extremely strong, ³  so that the land was filled with them.

But I will harden ¹  Pharaoh’s heart, and although I will multiply ²  my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt,

he who ¹  crushes ²  me with a tempest, and multiplies my wounds for no reason. ³ 

May mercy, peace, and love be lavished on you! ¹ 

When humankind ¹  began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born ²  to them, ³ 

I will greatly multiply your descendants,” the Lord’s angel added, ¹  “so that they will be too numerous to count.” ² 

The Lord your God has increased your population ¹  to the point that you are now as numerous as the very stars of the sky. ² 

So Job opens his mouth to no purpose; ¹  without knowledge he multiplies words.”

Then you multiplied your promiscuity to the land of merchants, Babylonia, ¹  but you were not satisfied there either.

I will indeed bless you, ¹  and I will greatly multiply ²  your descendants ³  so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession ⁴  of the strongholds ⁵  of their enemies.

But the more the Egyptians ¹  oppressed them, the more they multiplied and spread. ²  As a result the Egyptians loathed ³  the Israelites,

“Then I thought, ‘I will die in my own home, ¹  my days as numerous as the grains of sand. ²
