I thought this was a good idea, ¹  so I sent ²  twelve men from among you, one from each tribe.

Yet ¹  his parents ²  did not understand ³  the remark ⁴  he made ⁵  to them.

“I do not know who has done this thing,” Abimelech replied. “Moreover, ¹  you did not tell me. I did not hear about it until today.”

We have brought additional money with us to buy food. We do not know who put the money in our sacks!”

This advice made sense to Pharaoh and all his officials. ¹ 

Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him.

This seemed like a good idea to Absalom and to all the leaders ¹  of Israel.

Mankind does not know its place; ¹  it cannot be found in the land of the living.

Indeed, God is exalted in his power; who is a teacher ¹  like him?

Who can understand the spreading of the clouds, the thunderings of his pavilion? ¹ 

I will have nothing to do with a perverse person; ¹  I will not permit ²  evil.

The discerning person ¹  acquires knowledge, and the wise person ²  seeks ³  knowledge.

So ¹  they replied that they did not know ²  where it came from.

When it was time to shut the city gate for the night, the men left. ¹  I don’t know where they were heading. Chase after them quickly, for you have time to catch them!”

He goes to sleep and gets up, night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.

There was ¹  a lot of grumbling ²  about him among the crowds. ³  Some were saying, “He is a good man,” but others, “He deceives the common people.” ⁴ 

Thomas said, ¹  “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?”

(All the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there used to spend their time ¹  in nothing else than telling ²  or listening to something new.) ³ 

So then some were shouting one thing, some another, for the assembly was in confusion, and most of them did not know why they had met together. ¹ 

For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward. But if I do it unwillingly, I am entrusted with a responsibility.
