The men examined ¹  some of their provisions, but they failed to ask the Lord’s advice. ² 

When the Philistines saw he had no attendants, they gave him thirty groomsmen who kept him company. ¹ 

The four victorious kings ¹  took all the possessions and food of Sodom and Gomorrah and left.

the sons of God ¹  saw that the daughters of humankind were beautiful. Thus they took wives for themselves from any they chose.

Then he ¹  said to his relatives, “Gather stones.” So they brought stones and put them in a pile. ²  They ate there by the pile of stones.

They killed Hamor and his son Shechem with the sword, took Dinah from Shechem’s house, and left.

So the men took these gifts, and they took double the money with them, along with Benjamin. Then they hurried down to Egypt ¹  and stood before Joseph.

So they took soot from a furnace and stood before Pharaoh, Moses threw it into the air, and it caused festering boils to break out on both people and animals.

Tell the whole community of Israel, ‘In the tenth day of this month they each ¹  must take a lamb ²  for themselves according to their families ³  – a lamb for each household. ⁴
