he alone spreads out the heavens, and treads ¹  on the waves of the sea; ² 

for he stretches out his hand against God, ¹  and vaunts himself ²  against the Almighty,

and the slope of the valleys ¹  that extends to the dwelling of Ar, ²  and falls off at the border of Moab.”

He spreads out the northern skies ¹  over empty space; ²  he suspends the earth on nothing. ³ 

Who set its measurements – if ¹  you know – or who stretched a measuring line across it?
