When the Philistines heard that the Israelites had gathered at Mizpah, the leaders of the Philistines went up against Israel. When the Israelites heard about this, they were afraid of the Philistines.

So Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines for quite some time. ¹ 

The Philistines went up and invaded ¹  Judah. They arrayed themselves for battle ²  in Lehi.

A garrison of the Philistines had gone out to the pass at Micmash.

The Philistines again raided the valley.

A mongrel people will live in Ashdod, for I will greatly humiliate the Philistines.

The Philistines arranged their forces to fight ¹  Israel. As the battle spread out, ²  Israel was defeated by ³  the Philistines, who ⁴  killed about four thousand men in the battle line in the field.

Jonathan attacked the Philistine outpost ¹  that was at Geba and the Philistines heard about it. Then Saul alerted ²  all the land saying, “Let the Hebrews pay attention!”

When they ¹  made themselves known to the Philistine garrison, the Philistines said, “Look! The Hebrews are coming out of the holes in which they hid themselves.”

The Philistines stayed right on the heels ¹  of Saul and his sons. They ²  struck down Saul’s sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malki-Shua.

Later David defeated the Philistines and subdued them. David took Metheg Ammah ¹  from the Philistines. ² 

Next in command ¹  was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. When the Philistines assembled at Lehi, ²  where there happened to be an area of a field that was full of lentils, the army retreated before the Philistines.

The Philistines stayed right on the heels of ¹  Saul and his sons. They ²  struck down Saul’s ³  sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malki-Shua.

Later David defeated the Philistines and subdued them. He took Gath and its surrounding towns ¹  away from the Philistines. ² 

Samson went down to Timnah, where a Philistine girl caught his eye. ¹ 

Samson led ¹  Israel for twenty years during the days of Philistine prominence. ² 

When the ark of the Lord had been in the land ¹  of the Philistines for seven months, ² 

The five leaders of the Philistines watched what was happening and then returned to Ekron on the same day.

Then Saul stopped chasing the Philistines, and the Philistines went back home. ¹ 

The Philistines again came up and spread out in the valley of Rephaim.
