When he imposed a limit ¹  for the rain, and a path for the thunderstorm, ² 

to guard ¹  the paths of the righteous ²  and to protect ³  the way of his pious ones. ⁴ 

The righteous person is cautious in his friendship, ¹  but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

A thoroughfare will be there – it will be called the Way of Holiness. ¹  The unclean will not travel on it; it is reserved for those authorized to use it ²  – fools ³  will not stray into it.

Who carves out a channel for the heavy rains, and a path for the rumble of thunder,

Certainly ¹  the Lord guards the way of the godly, ²  but the way of the wicked ends in destruction. ³ 

He was passing by the street near her corner, making his way ¹  along the road to her house ² 

In the path of righteousness there is life, but another path leads to death. ¹ 

Keen insight ¹  wins ²  favor, but the conduct ³  of the unfaithful is harsh. ⁴ 

The Lord protects those residing outside their native land; he lifts up the fatherless and the widow, ¹  but he opposes the wicked. ² 

For the commandments ¹  are like ²  a lamp, ³  instruction is like a light, and rebukes of discipline are like ⁴  the road leading to life, ⁵ 

The fear of the Lord is to hate ¹  evil; I hate arrogant pride ²  and the evil way and perverse utterances. ³ 

Oppressors treat my ¹  people cruelly; creditors rule over them. ²  My people’s leaders mislead them; they give you confusing directions. ³ 

From whom does he receive directions? ¹  Who ²  teaches him the correct way to do things, ³  or imparts knowledge to him, or instructs him in skillful design? ⁴ 

Look, ¹  the Lord is coming out of his dwelling place! He will descend and march on the earth’s mountaintops! ² 

the way ¹  of an eagle in the sky, the way of a snake on a rock, the way of a ship in the sea, and the way of a man with a woman. ² 

I will give them a single-minded purpose to live in a way that always shows respect for me. They will want to do that for ¹  their own good and the good of the children who descend from them.

They trample ¹  on the dirt-covered heads of the poor; ²  they push the destitute away. ³  A man and his father go to the same girl; ⁴  in this way they show disrespect ⁵  for my moral purity. ⁶
