You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the field.

You will be cursed when you come in and cursed when you go out. ¹ 

Your basket and your mixing bowl will be cursed.

‘Call judgment down on ¹  Meroz,’ says the Lord’s angelic ²  messenger; ‘Be sure ³  to call judgment down on ⁴  those who live there, because they did not come to help in the Lord’s battle, ⁵  to help in the Lord’s battle against the warriors.’ ⁶ 

He will make the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and the water that brings a curse will enter her to produce bitterness.

They crouch and lie down like a lion, and as a lioness, ¹  who can stir him? Blessed is the one who blesses you, and cursed is the one who curses you!’”

A curse on anyone who is lax in doing the Lord’s work! A curse on anyone who keeps from carrying out his destruction! ¹ 

Let those who curse the day ¹  curse it ²  – those who are prepared to rouse ³  Leviathan. ⁴ 

You reprimand arrogant people. Those who stray from your commands are doomed. ¹ 

May peoples serve you and nations bow down to you. You will be ¹  lord ²  over your brothers, and the sons of your mother will bow down to you. ³  May those who curse you be cursed, and those who bless you be blessed.”

So he said, “Cursed ¹  be Canaan! ²  The lowest of slaves ³  he will be to his brothers.”

“You must not blaspheme ¹  God ²  or curse the ruler of your people.

‘Cursed ¹  is the one who disrespects ²  his father and mother.’ Then all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

‘Cursed is the one who moves his neighbor’s boundary marker.’ Then all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

‘Cursed is the one who misleads a blind person on the road.’ Then all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

‘Cursed is the one who has sexual relations with his mother-in-law.’ Then all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

‘Cursed is the one who kills ¹  his neighbor in private.’ Then all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

You are bound for judgment ¹  because you are robbing me – this whole nation is guilty. ² 

So ¹  now, please come and curse this nation ²  for me, for they are too powerful for me. Perhaps I will prevail so that we may conquer them ³  and drive them out of the land. For I know that whoever you bless is blessed, ⁴  and whoever you curse is cursed.”

I will bless those who bless you, ¹  but the one who treats you lightly ²  I must curse, and all the families of the earth will bless one another ³  by your name.”
