An honorable man makes honorable plans; his honorable character gives him security. ¹ 

that he might seat him with princes, with the princes of his people.

who says to a king, ¹  ‘Worthless man’ ²  and to nobles, ‘Wicked men,’

It is better to take shelter in the Lord than to trust in princes.

He pours contempt on noblemen and disarms ¹  the powerful. ² 

Let me again experience the joy of your deliverance! Sustain me by giving me the desire to obey! ¹ 

He would pour ¹  contempt upon princes, and he made them wander in a wasteland with no road.

Do not trust in princes, or in human beings, who cannot deliver! ¹ 

by me princes rule, as well as nobles and ¹  all righteous judges. ² 

Many people entreat the favor ¹  of a generous person, ²  and everyone is the friend ³  of the person who gives gifts. ⁴ 

¹ I was beside myself with joy! ²  There please give me your myrrh, ³  O daughter of my princely people. ⁴ 

The well which the princes ¹  dug, which the leaders of the people opened with their scepters and their staffs.” And from the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;

For you say, ‘Where now is the nobleman’s house, ¹  and where are the tents in which the wicked lived?’ ² 

Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, ¹  and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna, ² 

Excessive ¹  speech ²  is not becoming for a fool; ³  how much less are lies ⁴  for a ruler! ⁵ 

It is terrible ¹  to punish ²  a righteous person, and to flog ³  honorable men is wrong. ⁴ 

for it is better for him ¹  to say to you, “Come up here,” ²  than to put you lower ³  before a prince, whom your eyes have seen. ⁴ 

A fool will no longer be called honorable; a deceiver will no longer be called principled.

‘Take ¹  an offering for the Lord. Let everyone who has a willing heart ²  bring ³  an offering to the Lord: ⁴  gold, silver, bronze,

The nobles of the nations assemble, along with the people of the God of Abraham, ¹  for God has authority over the rulers ²  of the earth. He is highly exalted! ³
