He will be beaten and despised, ¹  and his reproach will not be wiped away; ² 

The ¹  remnant of Benjamin must be preserved. An entire Israelite tribe should not be wiped out. ² 

Hide your face ¹  from my sins! Wipe away ²  all my guilt!

May their names be deleted from the scroll of the living! ¹  Do not let their names be listed with the godly! ² 

May his descendants ¹  be cut off! ²  May the memory of them be wiped out by the time the next generation arrives! ³ 

Do not give your strength ¹  to women, nor your ways ²  to that which ruins ³  kings.

I will destroy Jerusalem the same way I did Samaria ¹  and the dynasty of Ahab. ²  I will wipe Jerusalem clean, just as one wipes a plate on both sides. ³ 

But now, if you will forgive their sin…, ¹  but if not, wipe me out ²  from your book that you have written.” ³ 

The Lord said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me – that person I will wipe out of my book.

“‘Then the priest will write these curses on a scroll and then scrape them off into the bitter water. ¹ 

You terrified the nations with your battle cry; ¹  you destroyed the wicked; ²  you permanently wiped out all memory of them. ³ 

May his ancestors’ ¹  sins be remembered by the Lord! May his mother’s sin not be forgotten! ² 

This is the way ¹  of an adulterous ²  woman: she eats and wipes her mouth ³  and says, “I have not done wrong.” ⁴ 

I, I am the one who blots out your rebellious deeds for my sake; your sins I do not remember.

I remove the guilt of your rebellious deeds as if they were a cloud, the guilt of your sins as if they were a cloud. ¹  Come back to me, for I protect ²  you.”

So the Lord ¹  destroyed ²  every living thing that was on the surface of the ground, including people, animals, creatures that creep along the ground, and birds of the sky. ³  They were wiped off the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark survived. ⁴ 

The Lord said to Moses, “Write this as a memorial in the ¹  book, and rehearse ²  it in Joshua’s hearing; ³  for I will surely wipe out ⁴  the remembrance ⁵  of Amalek from under heaven.

The border will run down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain, and the border will descend and reach the eastern side of the Sea of Chinnereth. ¹ 

Stand aside ¹  and I will destroy them, obliterating their very name from memory, ²  and I will make you into a stronger and more numerous nation than they are.”

Then ¹  the first son ²  she bears will continue the name of the dead brother, thus preventing his name from being blotted out of Israel.
