I am so starved my knees shake; ¹  I have turned into skin and bones. ² 

“‘You must not steal, you must not tell lies, and you must not deal falsely with your fellow citizen. ¹ 

Foreigners are powerless before me; ¹  when they hear of my exploits, they submit to me. ² 

If he is uprooted ¹  from his place, then that place ²  will disown him, saying, ³  ‘I have never seen you!’

then this ¹  also would be iniquity to be judged, ²  for I would have been false ³  to God above.

(May those who hate the Lord ¹  cower in fear ²  before him! May they be permanently humiliated!) ³ 

Threshing floors and wine vats will not feed the people, ¹  and new wine only deceives them. ² 

Then Sarah lied, saying, “I did not laugh,” because she was afraid. But the Lord said, “No! You did laugh.” ¹ 

When they hear of my exploits, they submit to me. ¹  Foreigners are powerless ²  before me;

Say to God: “How awesome are your deeds! Because of your great power your enemies cower in fear ¹  before you.

lest I become satisfied and act deceptively ¹  and say, “Who is the Lord?” Or lest I become poor and steal and demean ²  the name of my God.

There is only cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and adultery. They resort to violence and bloodshed. ¹ 

or has found something lost and denies it and swears falsely ¹  concerning any one of the things that someone might do to sin ²  –

We have rebelled and tried to deceive the Lord; we turned back from following our God. We stir up ¹  oppression and rebellion; we tell lies we concocted in our minds. ² 

“These people have denied what the Lord says. ¹  They have said, ‘That is not so! ²  No harm will come to us. We will not experience war and famine. ³ 

“Therefore, on that day each prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies and will no longer wear the hairy garment ¹  of a prophet to deceive the people. ² 

“When a person sins and commits a trespass ¹  against the Lord by deceiving his fellow citizen ²  in regard to something held in trust, or a pledge, or something stolen, or by extorting something from his fellow citizen, ³ 

You have joy, Israel! Who is like you? You are a people delivered by the Lord, your protective shield and your exalted sword. May your enemies cringe before you; may you trample on their backs.

Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenantal commandment! ¹  They have taken some of the riches; ²  they have stolen them and deceitfully put them among their own possessions. ³ 

Joshua said to all the people, “Look, this stone will be a witness against you, for it has heard everything the Lord said to us. ¹  It will be a witness against you if ²  you deny your God.”
